FBLA's Go Green Project
Over the years, FBLA has done numerous activities to support and help Earth Day. Today FBLA is doing the Go Green Chapter Project, which is a project is divided into two parts. The first part is where chapters select activities from the categories of service, education, and progress, similar to the FBLA Middle Level Achievement Program. The second part is to either expand on part one or conduct their own Go Green project with education and service elements incorporated. At the end of the project, they must include a 500 word summary of their activities.
Our local chapter has done two green service projects over the past couple of years. Two years ago, we planted a tree on our school campus to make the school grounds more visually appealing and to help the environment.
This year, we are also doing a recycling project where everyone can bring in their old cell phones, cameras, printer cartridges, mp3 players, GPS devices, and gold, silver, or platinum jewelry. We send the recycled products to a company in Austin, Texas, and they recycle these products for us. This prevents these products from ending up in a landfill where they could contaminate millions of gallons of water each year.
